What we collect
Account details
Your email address and, if you use Sign in with Apple, the name and email Apple shares with us.
Receipts & transactions
Receipt photos you capture and the details extracted from them — merchant, amounts, GST, category, notes.
Your app content
Things you enter: clients and quotes, vehicles and mileage, work-from-home logs, loyalty cards, budgets and tax settings.
Device & push token
If you enable notifications: a push token plus basic device info (model, OS version, timezone) to deliver the alerts you asked for.
Diagnostics
Limited server logs (e.g. error and request records) to keep the service running and secure. No third-party analytics.
We don't ask for your location, contacts, or any data we don't need to run the app.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service — capturing, reading, categorising, storing and syncing your receipts and records.
- To send notifications you've turned on, such as budget alerts and BAS reminders.
- To keep the app secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not use your information for advertising or profiling, and we don't use the content of your receipts to train AI models.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the app. They process data only on our instructions, and we require them to protect it to a standard consistent with this policy and the APPs.
- Cloudflare — hosting and storage. Receipt images are kept in object storage; your records in our database.
- DeepSeek — to read a receipt, its extracted text is sent to DeepSeek's AI to identify the merchant, total, GST and category. Only receipt text is shared — never your name, email or account details.
- Cloudflare Workers AI — if you forward a receipt to your private Snapceipt inbox, its image is read (OCR) here before the same text-only extraction.
- Apple — processes your sign-in if you use Sign in with Apple, and handles all subscription payments through the App Store.
Some of these providers may process data on servers outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Sharing & disclosure
We don't sell your personal information and we don't share it for anyone's marketing. We disclose information only to the processors above to run the app, or where we're required to by law.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your account, receipts, images and transactions are removed immediately; residual copies in encrypted infrastructure backups are purged within 30 days.
Your choices & rights
- Access & correction — view and edit your data in the app, or email us for a copy.
- Delete your account — in the app: Account → Delete Account. This is immediate and irreversible.
- Notifications — turn push notifications on or off any time in Settings.
- Complaints — contact us first; you may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Data security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted, and we use reputable infrastructure (Cloudflare) to protect it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your information seriously.
Children
Snapceipt is intended for adults managing their own finances and isn't directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
Notifiable data breaches
We comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches (NDB) scheme under Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If a data breach involving your personal information is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as practicable after we become aware of it, and we'll tell you what happened and the steps you can take. We maintain a process to assess suspected breaches and to contain and remediate them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
